| RFID: Sign of the (End) Times? |
| Consumer advocate Katherine Albrecht has written a new book, The Spychips Threat: Why Christians Should Resist RFID and Electronic Surveillance, which warns that radio frequency identification may evolve to become the "mark of the beast".
"My goal as a Christian (is) to sound the alarm," said Albrecht.
RFID is widely expected to replace bar-code labels on consumer goods. RFID chips contain unique identification codes, and can be read at varying distances with special reader devices.
If the VeriChip (subcutaneous implant) becomes a common payment device similar to the 'contactless' payment system in the Exxon Mobil Speedpass, all who wish to buy and sell goods will be compelled "to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads," as it says in Revelation, the Spychips Threat authors contend. |

| Churches urged to back evolution |
| "It's time to recognise that science and religion should never be pitted against each other." (Gilbert Omenn)
This, to me, is a no brainer. It's hard for me to imagine that there are people who refuse to accept intelligent design which is scientific, and choose to embrace naturalism/evolution as unscientific as it is.
We know that this isn't about science. It's about accountability to a higher power, ie God. |

| Church Leaders Explain Pastor's Departure |
| Sunday 2/26: church leaders at Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque tried to explain last week's sudden departure of Senior Pastor Pete Nelson.
Rev. Franklin Graham was asked to come to the congregation in the wake of Nelson's departure.
"Franklin wanted to be here to offer his support for the church," said Paul Saber, a Calvary Board member. "For years he's been involved with the church."
Graham told the congregation that he was on the board that hired Nelson. He also said there was a concern that the young preacher didn't have the experience to run a mega-church. |

| Texas religious group says China to charge Christian leaders |
| 2/26: Chinese authorities this week will put on trial 17 top leaders of an unofficial Christian group over the killings of 20 leaders from another church, a U.S.-based religious rights monitoring group said Sunday.
Xu Shuangfu and others from the Three Grades of Servants church will be tried for the deaths of 20 people from a group called Eastern Lightning, the China Aid Association said in a statement, citing a court document.
Rivalry and violence between China's unofficial Christian churches have been reported in the past, along with alleged government persecution.
Midland, Texas-based China Aid quoted unspecified sources as saying Xu was tortured during interrogation.
Hundreds of unregistered Christian groups in China have faced harassment for rejecting the authority of the Communist Party-controlled Protestant church. |
